If your home is more than a few years old, you may have areas of siding that show signs of wear. Whether it’s wood, aluminum, or vinyl siding, over time siding can fade, develop leaks, warp, crack or dent. And old siding is typically much less energy efficient than newer siding.

Theresa and John were in need of new siding for their home in Riverdale, Maryland. They'd worked with Thompson Creek Window Company in the past to install vinyl replacement windows. They said, "We dealt with them the past couple of years so we know the quality of work that you all do and that is why we came back." So they knew Thompson Creek was the company they would use for their new vinyl siding. The replacement vinyl siding installed by Thompson Creek will insulate Theresa and John's Prince George's County house from drafts and block noise with interlocking foam insulation that blocks up to 45% more noise than regular siding. What is protecting the exterior of your home? Is it energy efficient? A recent study completed by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center shows that 44% of homeowners prefer insulated vinyl siding as their exterior siding material of choice over traditional vinyl, brick, aluminum, fiber cement, and more.
The participants were asked "If you were to replace the exterior siding on your current home today, which type would you prefer to replace it with?" The top choice among homeowners was insulating vinyl siding with 44%, followed by vinyl siding at 25.2%, brick or stone at 8.5%, and aluminum or steel at 6.9%. Other choices included fiber cement, wood, and stucco.
Over 1,500 homeowners across the United States completed the online survey in February. To qualify for the study, each respondent had to own a single family home, townhome or duplex built in 1995 of earlier that was sided with something other than brick, stone or stucco. These requirements ensured that they may be candidates for new siding now or in the future.
By replacing your old siding, you can take advantage of the latest developments in siding. Vinyl siding from companies like Thompson Creek Window Company lays flat, hides any imperfections in the underlayment, has fewer seams and is foam laminated to add extra insulation to your home and block noise.
Thompson Creek siding is also thicker and 300% more impact-resistant, providing your home with lifetime protection from ice, hail, winds up to 165 mph and other damaging weather conditions. And with vinyl siding, you never have to climb a ladder again to paint your house.

When researching siding options for your home, you can become overwhelmed by the choices. Popular options include stone veneer, fiber cement, engineered wood siding, and vinyl siding. There are pros and cons for each option and should be weighed in order for you to know what option best suits you.
While stone veneer is extremely durable, it will easily have you spending $11-$15 a square foot. Fiber cement siding is relatively inexpensive but usually does not come with an extended warranty. Not having a lifetime guarantee can put a strain on your wallet in the years to come. Engineered wood siding, or composite wood, is composed of wood products and other materials. Like wood board siding, it will require maintenance and take time away from other activities.
Vinyl siding comes in many forms and is virtually maintenance free. If not properly installed, vinyl siding can cause mold and mildew but here at Thompson Creek, we take the extra step to ensure this does not happen. We wrap your home and then place a lining of material that allows the wall to breathe and prevent moisture build up
Thompson Creek Window Company offers a vinyl siding that is backed by our lifetime guarantee. If you are in the market for vinyl siding, Thompson Creek siding is the way to go!
